Council Members of Tilting - 2007

His Worship, Mayor Gerard E. Foley
Nominated and elected to the office of Mayor on September 27, 2005, with past experience on council while serving full term during 1986-1988. He has been a very active member of our community volunteering in other organizations, including 24 years on the Tilting Volunteer Fire Department where he served 5 ½ years as Fire Chief. Gerard worked for the Fogo Island Co-Operative Society for 30 years and is now currently working with the Department of Transportation and Works. Gerard and wife Darlene have two sons.

Deputy Mayor, Cyril Burke
Nominated and elected to the office of Deputy Mayor on September 27, 2005. He is presently serving his third term on the Town council. He is currently the Chairperson of the Fogo Island Stadium Committee and the Treasurer of the Tilting Volunteer Fire Department. Cyril is the Captain of the Fogo Island ferry, “M.V. Capt. Earl W. Winsor”. Cyril and his wife Rita have two daughters.

Councilor, Maureen Foley
Maureen was sworn in as councilor on September 27, 2005. She has been member of TRACS (Tilting Recreation and Cultural Society) for the past six years and is currently the secretary for the group. Maureen is employed at Fogo Island Central Academy. In September 2005, Maureen was appointed to serve on the Ireland Business Partnership. Maureen and her husband Phil have one daughter.

Councilor, Allan Foley
Allan was sworn in as councilor on October 4, 2005. He is a Provincial government employee. An active member of the Tilting Volunteer Fire Department. Allan and his wife Ann have three sons and one daughter.

Councilor, David Torraville
David was sworn in as councilor on January 4, 2006. He is presently serving his second term on council. He represents the Town of Tilting on the Fogo Island Regional Council and is currently the Treasurer of the St. Patrick's Parish Club Committee. David is a full time seasonal worker as a Dock Side Grader for the Fogo Island Co-Operative Society. David and his wife Isabel have one son and two grandchildren.

Councilor, Deborah Neil
Deborah was sworn in as councilor on February 7, 2006. She is presently serving her first term on council. Deborah is originally from British Columbia and has been a resident of Tilting since 2001. Deborah and her husband Jeffery have two daughters and one son.

Councilor, Catherine Keefe
Catherine was sworn in as councilor on August 17, 2006. She is presently serving her first term on council. Catherine is originally from Nova Scotia and has been a resident of Tilting since December 2005. Catherine and her husband Frank have two daughters and two sons.
