Friday, September 18

 

4:00 - 5:00 p.m.                       Readings and Recitations (Kenna’s Pub, Center of the Island)

 

7:00 - 9:30 p.m.                       Registration ($15.00 - workshops and all events except Saturday breakfast and supper) (St. Patrick’s Hall)

 

7:00 p.m.                                 Radio Tilting 105.9 FM goes on the air (St. Patrick’s Hall) broadcasting to Fogo Island, Change Islands, and web cast to Ireland and the world.

 

7:00 - 8:30 pm.                        Singing Workshop - Led by: Niall Wall, (St. Patrick’s Church)

          Niall will discuss and show the Irish style of Traditional/Ballad Singing and explore its links and similarities with the Traditional/Ballad styles of Newfoundland.

 

9:00 – 10:00 p.m.                    Readings and Recitations St. Patrick’s Hall)

Saturday, September 19

 

8:00 - 9:00 a.m.                       Newfoundland/Irish Breakfast (St. Patrick’s Hall)   $5.00

 

9:30 - 10:30 a.m.                     Creative Writing Workshop - Led by: Professor Eamonn Wall, (St. Patrick’s Hall)

           This will be a hands_on introduction to the craft of writing. Each participant should aim to bring a  piece of fiction or poetry, and will be involved in discussions on writing and publication possibilities for writers.

                                                                                               

10:15 - 11:45 a.m.                   Tilting through the eyes of a Photographer - Led by: Helena Mulkerns, (Meet at the Fire Hall)

            This will be very much a walking/talking/sharing workshop and lots of fun. Helena has a very outgoing personality and is really looking forward to meeting and talking with locals and photographing them as well as the local scenery. She has a keen eye for detail and will share this with those who would like to accompany her. Pictures taken over the weekend will be on display in the evening.  Bring a digital camera

10.15 - 11:45 a.m.                   Oral History & Story Telling Workshop -  Led by: Deirdre Wadding, (St. Patrick’s Hall)

            To include a presentation on the potential and huge worth of oral traditions, both in terms of story telling, and historic significance.  Discussion on family lore, community tales, historic events that, with the permission of participants, might also be recorded.

 

12:00 - 1:00 p.m.                     Lunch (St. Patrick’s Hall) included in the Registration fee

 

2:00 - 3:30 p.m.                       Editing your Writing Workshop - Led by: Helena Mulkerns, (Meet at the Fire Hall)

4:00 – 5:30 p.m.                      Poets reading circle - (local and visiting poets) Led by: Professor Eamonn Wall, (St. Patrick’s Hall)

                                                Storytelling circle - (local and visiting storytellers) Led by: Deirdre Wadding, (St. Patrick’s Hall)

 

6:00 p.m.                                 Traditional Newfoundland Dinner, $15:00/person - 150 seats available, (St. Patrick’s Hall)

                               

9:00 - 10:00 p.m.                     Local Entrainment on the air

 

10:00 pm                                 Music and dancing

 

 

Sunday, September 20

 

11:00 - 12:00 a.m.                   Mass/Irish singers and blessing (St. Patrick’s Church),

 

12:30 - 1:30 p.m.                     Picnic Lunch, $5.00 (Oliver Cove or Sandy Cove weather permitting)

 

1:30 -                                       Explore Tilting and enjoy the day on your own

 

8:00 p.m.                                 Concert  St. Patrick’s Hall)

           A grand singing/music session with local singers and musicians.  Also young Irish musician, Meadhbh Wall, from County Wexford will join us. Meadhbh plays the tin whistle and flute. This session will allow for active participation by locals musicians.
